Is $34,596 to install an all-Enphase solar and battery system a fair price?
Project Details
I'm looking for a solar and battery system for my 2-story wood-frame cabin in Riverside County, California, which has 200A service and an asphalt-shingle roof, and experiences occasional snow. My main goals are to keep lights, Wi-Fi, fridge, and well-pump on for 24-hour outages, lower operating costs under NEM 3.0, and leave headroom for future loads. I frequently experience PSPS outages. I'm concerned about the compatibility and efficiency of mixing Enphase microinverters with a Tesla Powerwall 3, and whether the 10 kWh Enphase battery is sufficient for 24-hour critical loads in winter, or if the larger Powerwall 3 is worth the new-product risk. I'm also wondering about Riverside County inspector requirements (snow-load calcs, fire-setback revisions, schedule slip), the $300 truck-roll service fee, and payment security, as one company wants 95% before PTO. Shade from tall trees nearby is a concern, and I cannot cut them down, though they can be trimmed. I don't have time for DIY solutions and am looking for installers willing to work with equipment they might not be familiar with, given my complex roof.
