Is $1,500 to build an 8x16 pressure treated deck a fair price?
Project Details
I found a local retired guy who builds decks at very low prices, less than half of other quotes I've seen, as he says he just covers his costs. I'm fine with paying for the cost and more, and I don't think he would cheap out, but I want to ensure the deck is built correctly. I'm a complete novice when it comes to decks and need advice on what to look for when viewing his work in person. I'm also wondering if the deck needs to be modified to not be a floating deck when attached to my house, and if he might be omitting things like joist tape. I plan to tip him if he does a good job.
