Is $20,000 to replace carpet with matching hardwood flooring a fair price?
Project Details
My home is a mid-90s build, currently with half honey oak flooring and half extremely tired carpet. I'm getting quotes to replace the carpet with matching hardwood because I don't see any other viable flooring option due to pets and high-traffic areas. I'm experiencing a bit of sticker shock with the $20,000 quote for my $800,000 home and am questioning if it's worth it. I'm in a very high cost of living (VHCOL) area, and my home is below the median price. The area to be replaced includes one room and multiple hallways, making good transition points difficult, which is why I feel it's an all-or-nothing situation for hardwood, despite having LVP in my bathrooms.
