encapsulate fiberglass in ductboard boots with mastic

Is $120 to encapsulate fiberglass in ductboard boots with mastic a fair price?

Project Details

I have been finding fiberglass crystals/fibers in all of our household dust. I have a company coming to clean the ducts tomorrow as we originally thought it was residual fibers from when the ductboard plenums were replaced with metal ones. Then I realized all the upstairs registers have ductboard boots. I am questioning if applying mastic on the inside of the boots is standard practice or a reasonable solution, and if it poses other health concerns, as an alternative to replacing all 12 boots.

Quote Details

The proposed solution involves applying mastic to the interior surface of the ductboard boots in the upstairs registers. - Purpose: Seal and encapsulate fiberglass fibers - Location: Inside ductboard boots at registers - Material: Mastic - Number of vents: 12
