Is $4,500 to remove existing insulation, air seal, and install R49 blown-in fiberglass in attic a fair price?
Project Details
I've read about the differences between fiberglass and cellulose insulation. The company I'm considering mentioned that fiberglass might be better for me because I have a big attic and they're aiming for R49, and cellulose is heavy. I'm wondering if I should push back or if I'll even notice a difference. The total cost for just the attic work was $8,500, with $4,000 in rebates, bringing the final cost to $4,500. I'm ready to get started tomorrow. I was also offered insulation in the crawl space for $2,000, which would use spray foam, but I'm not going to do that as I don't want spray foam. I would insulate and air seal my whole basement if I could, but most of it is finished, and I definitely don't want to use spray foam.
