Is $4,972 to insulate attic with blown cellulose and air sealing a fair price?

Project Details

I am trying to get insulation in my attic before the tax credit goes away. My house was built in 1954 and has no insulation. It has a gable roof with attic space accessible from an upstairs bonus room. The contractor wants to do blown cellulose, and he said if we insulate the crown and the slopes between the rafters and the crown, the eave areas could then be considered warm storage. I also thought he said we didn't need to insulate behind the knee wall, but it looks like maybe he added this to the quote. I asked him about doing fiberglass batting instead, as I know it's not the best but it's cheaper and anything is better than what we have now. He hasn't replied yet. I am curious on people's thoughts. Also, we have knob and tube wiring, but it's mostly all in the floor. Wiring on knee walls is more current.
