Is $8,000 to remove asbestos popcorn ceiling a fair price?
Project Details
This is my first time dealing with asbestos. I want a popcorn ceiling removed in a house I just purchased, but it contains asbestos (roughly 5% from the sample I sent in). After doing a little research, I had a rough idea of what to expect for quotes, but the first quote came in much higher than I thought. I understand it will be more costly due to the hazardous nature of the material and the intensive process to safely remove it, but for about 350 sq ft of ceiling, I was quoted $8,000. I'm not sure if that's about right. I've gathered after talking to a guy from the DAQ that I better get my money up.
