Is $30,000 to repair bowing basement wall with steel beams a fair price?
Project Details
I've come to realize trustworthy basement repair salesmen are extremely hard to find in my area. I got a full report from a Structural Engineer, who provided a list of things we can do to mitigate the foundation getting worse. For now, he thinks it's a cosmetic issue that could progressively get more severe. I then approached a couple basement foundation contractors who sound very salesmany and have provided quotes in the $30,000 price range. I've talked to a couple family friends who owned a lot of rental homes and have had less qualified people do foundation work for a third of the price, but that concerns me, though part of me wonders if that's just a reflection of how much the basement foundation contractors rip you off. We want to stay in the house long term, and at some point, it will have to be done. I'm just curious if this subreddit thinks $30k is fair.
