Is $3,500 to redo kitchen cabinet painting a fair price?

I recently bought a house and decided to update the kitchen. For cabinet painting, I initially chose the lowest quote because we were doing other renovations, and costs were adding up. In hindsight, this was a big mistake. The paint job looks average, and there's no smooth finish on the oak cabinets. We had another professional painter come and paint the island cabinets, and the result was amazing. Now, I'm thinking about redoing the cabinets again, which would cost me another $3,000-$4,000 after already paying $2,000 previously. Every time I see the current paint work, it bothers me a lot. The cheaper painter said that with oak, when you sand the cabinets, grains stick out. I didn't know enough about the process back then, and I regret it now.
