Is $4,200 to connect a gas line a fair price?

Project Details

I prefer gas for cooking, specifically Indian cooking, and have used a gas stove lifelong. The existing gas line is near the living room fireplace, and there is also gas in the garage for a heater. The kitchen is on the opposite end of the house from the living room fireplace, with a half wall between them, and is a few feet from the garage. I am 2-3 days away from closing on the house and have discussed this expense with the seller agent. I have reached out to 2-3 more plumbing companies to get additional quotes.

Replace a gas line and find a leak

The quote is to replace a gas line and find a gas leak. The current 1/2 inch gas pipe will be replaced with a 3/4 inch pipe to meet village code. The pipe runs from the basement boiler room, up the wall of the first floor, and into the second-floor kitchen stove. It serves the 2nd-floor gas stove only.
