Is $2,000 to replace the heat exchanger in a Hayward pool heater a fair price?
Project Details
My 400,000 BTU Hayward pool heater, which is 5 or 6 years old, developed a leak after a freeze in January. My pool guy diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger and recommended replacing the entire heater. I did some research and found that the heat exchanger itself can be replaced. I'm exploring options, as replacing just the heat exchanger seems much cheaper, and I'd be happy if it lasted another season or two, despite potential warranty concerns.
