Is $54,000 to repair and tile the exterior portions of the pool a fair price?
Project Details
I bought my house in August of last year, and it included a pool that looked like it was in good condition. The inspection found no issues. After having it professionally closed for the winter, I just opened the pool and everything above the water line is disintegrating. A pool company told me this was likely an amateur job done just to sell the house, stating that plaster shouldn't be above water because it will swell and fall off. I am pursuing this with the home seller who did not disclose the issue. I paid for a home inspection that I believed was comprehensive, but it apparently did not include the pool, and the disclaimer I signed absolves them. I was moving from out of state for work and was not present for the inspection, which was a mistake. I'm disappointed with the purchasing process, feeling it's stacked against me. The realtor recommended inspectors who might help sell the home. I also found out the roof has 4-5 sets of shingles, not 2 as the inspector stated. The inspector refused to pay, and his insurance denied the claim due to the disclaimer. Between the roof and the pool, I'm out over 100k.
