Is $18,000 to replace 1200 sqft roof with 30-year shingles a fair price?
Project Details
I have a 1200 square foot roof on a historic building (1858 schoolhouse conversion) with no dormers, peaks, or valleys, just two chimneys and a roof peak. I plan on adding a few skylights. I want a truly black roof that won't fade, as my neighbor's black asphalt shingle roof has faded. I'm concerned about noise with metal roofs, as advised by contractors, despite personally liking the idea of metal. I'm looking for guidance on the best black materials and an idea of costs for a similar size roof, as the ballpark figures I received were wildly different.
