Is $14,000 to install standing seam metal roof on my side of the semi-detached house a fair price?
Project Details
My semi-detached neighbor is getting a standing seam roof installed to accommodate solar panels and avoid future repairs. My current asphalt shingles were installed in 2012 and had one repair in 2020. I don't plan to move from this house. The metal contractor is strongly recommending I get my side of the roof done now, claiming that if I don't, the shared seam will be a weak spot, which concerns me. I'm also wondering if this is a good opportunity to replace my roof now, given I anticipate needing a replacement within the next five years. We share a wall, and the contractor confirmed they would remove the existing shingles.
