Is $1,200 to replace flashing, shingles and other material around skylight a fair price?
Project Details
I am a noob homeowner with a 25-year-old house that has its original shingle roof. Recently, I experienced a 'bee' leakage from my skylight, where bees entered through outside flashing and nested in the drywall, eventually finding their way into my room due to moisture. I called roofers for repair suggestions. My insurance agent informed me that an aging roof is not claimable unless there's significant hail or wind damage, which is not the case for my roof. I currently have no other issues with my roof, which is 3800 sq ft. I'm looking for advice on whether to replace the entire roof now or wait, which shingle company is better (as all seem to use GAF), and whether to repair or replace the skylight based on the quotes I received.
