Is $10,900 to install new asphalt shingles a fair price?

I've received quotes on a new roof. My main concern is that the current shingles are 3-tab, roughly 20 years old, and a few are missing (I'm not sure for how long). I checked the attic, and didn't notice any signs of recent leaks or musty smell after heavy rain. However, I'm still worried that there might be damage that isn't noticeable from the attic. A smaller concern I have is the noise. The insulation in my attic is just passable. Would it be extremely loud when it's raining? I have a skittish dog that I don't want to drive insane. I've also thought about the two options when it comes time to sell my house. I wonder if it'd be easier to sell with new shingles. I can see buyers being concerned about the installation method of the metal roof.
